About Me

Most people will know me from F-Zero GX or F-Zero 99 now but I also speedrun others games which were kept track of on Cyberscore and I also had a Marble Madness (NES) WR on Speed Demo Archive so I've been around forever. Outside of speedrunning I've been playing Starcraft and Starcraft 2 my whole life. Most recently I've enjoyed making more content based videos on YouTube for games, the creative process of putting together something special for the games I like is sometimes even more fun than playing the game for me and I hope the community enjoys what I make.

The Player's Pulse competition I knew for sure I could win, no one else at this time was snaking on Phantom Road, it was crazy even to think of snaking on this course when the game was just released and you can see my time of 1'34"805 won by over 20 seconds because no one else was snaking, spaceflying checkpoint skips weren't discovered yet, and no one playing Max Speed was good enough this early after the release to get near this time. Although the magazine did misspell my last name, its still cool to see my name in this magazine as the winner. To send in proof I mailed them a CD with my live run I recorded on VHS, as a prize I received a F-Zero GX mousepad, but unfortunately that was lost to time but winning this event is in the books a fond memory.

The Internet Championship was such an exciting period of time in GX, everyone was new to the game still and records were being broken every day and now we got to all compete in a world wide competition for the fastest times. There was a problem already though, snaking was going to win, for me personally I had 2 memory cards, a snaking memory card where I went by my gaming name "Mengsk" and a max speed memory card where I just used my initials "JAD" so I could submit my best time for each setting. This event was so early in GX that MT tech wasn't even discovered yet, but during the first week competition for Ruby courses the player JKT submitted a sub 40 time with Fat Shark on Mute City Twist Road, no one could figure out how such a time was possible, its like JKT was doing something that no one else knew about and he told us there is something he is doing to go faster but won't reveal it until Ruby week ends. No one else figured it out, JKT won Mute City Twist Road and his sub 40 snaking video was posted on Nintendo's website as the winner. It turns out the technique he was doing that no one else could figure out was just letting go of the gas on the loop section, how crazy is that not one other person in the world thought of that! And a sub 40 time is a legit time, JKT was way ahead of the curve. For me though, I was just a little behind and couldn't make podium on these courses with snaking.

The second week was Sapphire and now everyone knows about MT tech and snaking was still dominating the event, but then something else happened, spaceflying checkpoint skips were discovered, now every course with the exception of BBDH was faster to spacefly, people were now figured out all sorts of checkpoint skip routes and they kept getting faster and faster, I can't fully recall the routes now because spaceflying is like a puzzle in the air.

The third week is Emerald and now everyone is looking for spaceflying routes and there was one I stuck to, the Green Plant Intersection spaceflying, it was slightly complex as it involved a wall jump, I was determined to win this course though, my spaceflying routes were tight and I was near 20 seconds, I just had to hold on until the end of the week and you never know if anyone out there is hording a time so no one knew what time they actually had to get to win. It turns out something else was going to be discovered, a total time glitch, certain courses have a 20 second cutoff for your time to count and then longer course have a 1'20 min time cutoff, this is where things got weird and the tournament got messed up. Some people who submitted times below these cutoffs had their times removed from the competition website, but for some reason others were allowed to submit times below the cutoff, so people were now in a competition to get 20 seconds exactly or 1'20 exactly, we would wait at the finish line and then try to get that exact time but you couldn't go under. I actually had the third place time on CPDB but something else happened, the tournament abruptly ended an hour sooner than it should have and I never submitted my time on that course, it would have been nice to get a 2nd award but I'm just happy to have 1 and its the one I tried my hardest to get.

Projects

Apps and games I've created or currently working on.

Dynamic Reader - Reading you control
I created this e-reader app to modernize book reading. The majority of reading people do is online with scrolling through social media feeds and chats and for me personally I like highlighting words as I read text to keep focus, this app does all of that.
Synth Flight - a one-button synthwave action game
Play Now
For my first game creation using Claude I wanted to start with a basic concept, a 2d side scrolling flash game. When flash games were the biggest thing on the internet I enjoyed playing the Helicopter Game, its simple and fun, that's what I'm going for, be fun and playable. This game has short levels to avoid repetitive gameplay, each level has different types of hazards and sometimes different physics.
Ball Revamped - Synergy Remake
Coming 2027
My favorite flash games of all time were the Ball Revamped series created by jmtb02. The creativity of the levels and hazards made the game such a fun experience and then it even had a leaderboard and custom level editor where you could share your levels. Now I want to re-create that with a modern version (working game title) and while I am using ai for coding all of the levels will be 100% created by me, piece by piece. This project will take a long time to finish, its something I want to look and feel great, it will be a full game with everything the Ball Revamped community could hope for.
